Age of Conan slaughters all comers in the charts
AGE of Conan, the popular new MMO from Funcom and Eidos, now has more than 700000 subscribers and is still the number one selling game in most major video game markets.
NPD data shows that Age of Conan (herein known as AoC) has conquered all other games to hold the #1 spot in the US, one of its biggest markets.
More astounding is that it now ranks only second to World of Warcraft in subscribers to Western MMOs.
That obviously excludes popular Asian MMOs some of which like Lineage II are immensely popular.
But for a new game that has been troubled by launch bugs, and has plenty of potential yet to be tapped, Funcom is extremely pleased with the response.
"We are incredibly pleased to see Age of Conan turning into an MMO phenomenon," said Gaute Godager, Game Director on Age of Conan.
"As an MMO company, we know that a good start is just the beginning for a virtual world.
"All we care about now is to make Age of Conan into an even better game and we have extensive plans to ensure that Age of Conan remains a top MMO alternative for many years to come."
