Rare collectibles and other Nintendo goodies for Aussie gamers
NINTENDO Australia is launching a customer loyalty program called Club Nintendo with points that can be used to purchase exclusive merchandise.
Gamers can join Club Nintendo by purchasing nominated games and redeeming a special PIN for Star Points.
The Club Nintendo store is not available yet in Australia, despite today's new release, Mario Kart Wii, containing Australia's first Club Nintendo PIN.
You can, however, register the PIN and start collecting Star Points. Wii Fit, released on 8 May, will also include a PIN for Australian Club Nintendo members to redeem.
"Nintendo will email you once the full Club Nintendo website is up and running, so you can then redeem your Star points on premium items from the Stars catalogue," Nintendo Australia said in its media statement.
The more nominated games you buy, the more Star Points you earn, and then comes the fun part: spending them!
You'll be able to buy some crazy Nintendo-themed goodies that until now has only been available to Club Nintendo members abroad.
Aside from the predictable offerings, such as Nintendo themed caps and t-shirts, you'll also be able to buy some rarer, collectible items - if the Japanese Club Nintendo is anything to go by.
This month, Japanese Club Nintendo members will be able to buy a limited edition Wii Classic Controller that is a full-blown replica of the Super Nintendo controller - coloured buttons and all.
Check it out today at www.club-nintendo.com, and make sure you buy Mario Kart Wii and start that points collection!
