PS3 multiplayer has been fixed!!

Simon Ramsey, head of marketing and public relations at Rockstar told Gamer Herald that the developer had released a GTA IV patch today, which ensure that Gamespy's servers do not become overloaded.

Rockstar Games has released a GTA IV patch today that prevents Gamespy's servers from being overloaded and therefore reduces the impact on those servers that were causing the game to stutter and lock up.

We continue to monitor the performance of the game both on and offline and will provide further updates as necessary. We want to assure everyone that, together with our hardware partners, we continue to strive to give our fans the best possible interactive entertainment experiences possible.

This update will ensure that everyone will experience Grand Theft Auto IV the way it was intended. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

This news comes as Rockstar announced that first week sales of GTA IV had topped $500 million in the US.

Grand Theft Auto IV has surpassed all-time entertainment records for day one and week one sales by dollar value. Released on Tuesday, April 29th, Grand Theft Auto IV, has sold through to consumers approximately 6 million units globally with an estimated retail value of more than $500 million in the first week. Grand Theft Auto IV sold approximately 3.6 million units on its opening day with a retail value of approximately $310 million globally.

"We knew Grand Theft Auto IV would break new ground in terms of the player's experience, with its compelling story line, extraordinary gameplay and action that ranges over a broad urban canvas.

Now, it has broken sales and rating records as well. Grand Theft Auto IV's first week performance represents the largest launch in the history of interactive entertainment, and we believe these retail sales levels surpass any movie or music launch to date.

We congratulate the entire Rockstar team on creating a must-have experience that takes the legendary Grand Theft Auto franchise to a new level," said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman of Take-Two.

Bigger than any movie or music release? Jeepers, it's been a big week for Rockstar and GTA IV!

Thank goodness! Maybe I will still consider GTA 4 for the PS3 so I can kick your ass online, Glen.

Ironman made 1.9million opening night. That's aproximately 190,000 people.

3.6 million units in one day's pretty impressive.

And the game is much more expensive than a DVD!

Do we know how much it cost to make?
