Soul Calibur 4 - PS3 Arcade Stick
August 1st 2008 03:21
SOUL Calibur 4 landed in the disc drive of Gamer Herald's Playstation 3 yesterday, and first impressions are promising.
The graphics are great, the fighting engine is spot-on and online multiplayer oozes with easy-peasy.
It took less than 60 seconds to go from the top menu, find a ranked online match, select character and engage in a heated 3D battle.
I lost the bout three rounds to one, but was endlessly impressed with the lag-free fighting and Star Wars stage and theme music in the background.
Did I mention the graphics were great? Truly jaw-dropping stuff. The stages are interactive and perfectly rendered. Fighting on the Star Wars mothership, against a light saber wielding apprentice, with the Imperial March blaring in the background was a highlight.
Before a full review, I've ordered a limited edition Soul Calibur 4 arcade stick to fully immerse myself in this title.
I didn't pay for the review code, so figured $70 odd dollars for a quality arcade stick was a worthy investment.
Play Asia has the best deal on the HORI Fighting Stick:
HORI Fighting Stick EX2 (Soul Calibur IV Limited Edition)
Has anyone played the Soul Calibur series? Looking to purchase the new installment?
