Strange Uses for the Kinect!!
December 7th 2010 20:45
Good Afternoon Gamers,
Ok so get this Im looking through the internet and I came across this article on Gamespot.com. People are now hacking the Kinect and are now using it in different ways. This particular one took me for a loop so a college student used a Kinect ans created helicopter out of it. Using the brain of the Kinect to actually control the copter.
A University of California Berkeley student Patrick Bouffard took a Kinect and attached it to a quadrotor aircraft. It uses the infrared signal from the Kinect as a brain. As the copter moves if you place something in front of it, it will stop mid-motion before it collides with the object.
So with the technology the copter can now avoid collisions with any objects, allowing it to move freely around an object course. This is great news for video gaming, the technology that is being used in gaming is now being used for other things. It just shows how far gaming has come from the golden age.
So stay tuned for more on the Kinect and other news from the Video Game world.
