Australia's Top 10 SingStar Songs

Aussie classic tops SingStar most downloaded list
WITH more than half a million SingStar microphones in Australian homes and tens of thousands of song downloads from the SingStore, the nation's most loved tune has been revealed.
The SingStar community has embraced the PS3's online elements. In the SingStore's first four months of trading, tens of thousands of tracks have been downloaded in Australia, contributing to the one million tracks downloaded across the PAL region.
The ten biggest selling tracks in Australia to date are as follows:
1. Men At Work - Down Under
2. Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
3. Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse Of The Heart
4. Pink - Just Like A Pill
5. The Fray - Over My Head
6. Europe - Final Countdown
7. Silverchair - Tomorrow
8. The Fray - How to Save A Life
9. Delta Goodrem - Born To Try
10. Len - Steal My Sunshine
Interesting to note that The Fray had a winning double in the top 10 and it's good to see Delta making a mark on the list too.
I was surprised to see Cyndi sitting at number two. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun should only ever be attempted by female vocalists. It can cause irreversible damage to young men's vocal cords (and self esteem)
SingStar has sold more than 1.3 million copies in Australia, with more than half of those sold in 2007 alone.
My SingStar Online has also proved to be a popular place for SingStar fans, attracting 140,000 registered users across the PAL region who, combined with visitors to www.singstargame.com, have shared over 20,000 videos of their SingStar performances that have been watched a total of 2.5 million times.
MD of Sony Australia, Michael Ephraim, said the term 'social gaming' is gaining recognition in 2008.
"However, it was relatively new when we launched the first SingStar title in Australia in 2004. The game entered the charts at number one, allowing us to pioneer the social gaming category and include a new audience of consumers who had not previously included gaming in their entertainment mix. We really are teaching the world to sing with SingStar - and business for 2008 is looking excellent."
